Doha, 15th, September, 2008 - In the world of Arabian breeding and shows Marwan Al Shaqab has dominated in both the show ring and as a sire of international champions.
Owned by Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, and managed by Sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Al Thani, the two-time World Champion will now take aim for a third as he competes for the title Senior World Champion Stallion. Marwan Al Shaqab's return to the show ring is scheduled for 26-27, September 2008, at the prestigious All Nations Cup at Aachen, Germany. The competition will be the 8-year-olds first since the 2005 U.S. National Championship.
Following the All Nations event, the Qatar born and raised eight-year-old will then compete for the ultimate title, Senior World Champion Stallion. The champion will be named at the World Arabian Horse Championships held at the Salon Du Cheval in Paris, 12-14 December.
Marwan Al Shaqab is then scheduled to return to compete in the Middle East. His competition schedule will bring the champion back to his native country for the first time in nearly seven years. The schedule will include, Qatar International Arabian Championship, Sharjah International Championship, and the Dubai International Championship.
If he is crowned champion in Paris, it will mark the stallion's third World Championship. His rise to dominance was previewed at his debut in 2001. As a yearling, he seized the title of Qatari National Champion Colt and finished the year with his first of consecutive World Champion Colt titles, 2001-2002.
His success as a sire is equally impressive. In just six years he has risen to claim the distinction as the number one sire of Champions in the world. His success led to the title of Best Sire at the World Championships in 2007. Internationally his offspring have carried his name to a variety of championship titles at the world's most prestigious shows.
Marwan Al Shaqab highlights the phenomenal success achieved by Al Shaqab. He is one of three World Champion Stallions bred and owned by the organization that has led Qatar to world prominence in Arabian breeding and shows. Marwan is joined by his father Gazal Al Shaqab, a prominent international champion and sire of a growing number of champions; and Al Adeed Al Shaqab, who earned a distinguished list of Championship titles during his show career.
