Doha, Qatar - Marwan Al Shaqab returned to the show ring last September with the goal of winning a record third World Championship. With the championship secured, Qatar's world famous champion has returned home to compete in the prestigious Qatar International Arabian Show, February 23-25 at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club.
Owned by Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation, Marwan Al Shaqab will be making his first appearance in Qatar since 2001, when he was named the Qatar National Colt Champion. Over the past seven years, the son of the Al Shaqab Gazal Al Shaqab, has clearly earned his place as a legend in the world of Arabian Show Horses.
The nine-year-old, Marwan Al Shaqab has achieved feats unequalled in the history of the breed. His accomplishments not only include a record three World Championships, but as a sire, he has produced more World Champions than any other stallion. During the 2008 World Championships, his dominance as a sire was overwhelming as his offspring took first and second place honors in both the filly and colt classes.
His world championship quest began last September as he retuned to the show ring following a five-year absence. He promptly won the Senior Stallion title at the famed All Nations Cup in Aachen, Germany, and then prepared for the highly anticipated World Championships in Paris, which he won in December.
The Qatar International Arabian Show will serve as a welcome home for Marwan Al Shaqab as he is expected to compete on the second day, Tuesday, February 24.
