One day, 160 Km, 5 loops, 166 riders to start, 128 combinations eliminated and just 38 in the finish line! This was the balance for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 that happened in Normandy, France.
It was a very difficult competition, with some accidents and certainly the rider who finished the race, already achieved a victory.
Qatar National Endurance Team triumphed with the bronze medal in 28th August, when Abdulrahman Al Sulaiteen with 16,93 Km/h speed for the last loop, crossed the finish line with Koheilan Kincso. A long time Abdulrahman is part of the endurance team in Al Shaqab and during two years he was qualifying for the world championship in competition in Doha and around the world. His total riding time in WEG was 8h56min23s, competition time with the recovering 12h. The average for the combination was 17,92Km/h and the second loop was the faster one, with 18,98 Km/h speed.
Qatar Team was represented also by Hassan Tahous and Leonardo, Khalid Sanad and Gazelles Du Bosphore Ewalraid, Faleh Bughenaim and Antall de Jalima, Atta Peer and Lyrical Breeze. All the riders and 3 horses were qualified in Al Shaqab for the WEG 2014. The team vet was Dr. Silvio Arroyo Filho, the senior veterinary from Al Shaqab Endurance Team.
The FEI World Equestrian Games bring together the World Championships of all FEI disciplines. The event has taken place every four years since 1990. The next World Equestrian Games will happen in 2018, Canada.
