Endurance field now 58 strong

With only three days to go before the start of the 120 kilometer Endurance race at CHI AL SHAQAB 2015 on Saturday the list of competitors is now 58 horse and rider combinations. Nawras Akef Yousef Al Akhras has been added. He is competing for Qatar with Mansoor.

Riders from ten countries will set off at Measaid racetrack on 7 March. With a spectacular mass start at 5:00 in the morning they will set out for the 200,000 Euro prize money. Host nation Qatar has the strongest team with 33 riders. Eight are coming from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
 

Qatars top favourites are Faleh Bughenaim and Abdulraman Saad Al Sulaiteen. The lightweight Bughenaim was No.1 in the FEI ranking 2014 and Abdulrahman Saad Al Sulaiteen (QAT) won Bronze at the World Equestrian Games, the first WEG medal ever for the Qatar Endurance. One of the international favourites will be Philippe Tomas, member of the French gold medal European team and finishing silver at the World championship 2012. Tomas takes care of Al Shaqab horses when they are based in France. On Saturday, the world’s No.2 from Toulouse w ill ride Perlando HLM from Al Shaqab stud.
