Britain’s Laura Renwick made amends for a Wednesday narrow miss by topping the CSI5* Speed and Handiness jumping competition (1m45) at CHI AL SHAQAB 2015 on Thursday.
Renwick on Rembrandt Blue looked extremely fast from the beginning and completed a flawless round in 57:12, to become the first female winner at this year’s CHI AL SHAQAB. The only rider who beat her on Wednesday, Germany’s Daniel Deusser, chose not to enter the competition.
Emanuele Gaudiano on French Coffee cleared all obstacles as well, but was slightly slower for a second place rank with a time of 57:68. 21-year-old Olivier Philippaerts and 2002 born Carlito C were second in 58:62, while Jordan’s Ibrahim Bisharat on Chirico W just missed out on a top-three finish after putting on a fantastic effort to finish fourth in 60:72.
There were several riders, like Gregory Wathelet or Steve Guerdat who seemed to avoid pushing hard for a top placing, presumably saving energy for the upcoming events, while others chose to skip the event.
