    His Highness The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani established Al Shaqab in 1992 to enjoy his passion for Arabian horses, to honor the courageous war horses ridden by victorious Qatari knights of the past, and to assure the Arabian horse would continue to play a leading role in the cultural heritage of the Qatari people.

The world's best riders and horses will participate in CHI AL SHAQAB 2020 from February 27-29, at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab.

Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation, is gearing up to organize CHI AL SHAQAB 2020 from 27 – 29 February at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab.  Following the recent signing of a strategic partnership agreement with Longines, the globally renowned Swiss watchmaking brand, CHI AL SHAQAB 2020 will be presented by LONGINES,

 

CHI (Concours Hippique International – International Equestrian Competition) is the official title awarded by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) to international equestrian competitions with three or more equestrian disciplines.

First held in 2013, CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by LONGINES is one of only five CHI competitions worldwide and the first and only equestrian event of its kind in the Middle East and Asia region.  Since then, it has evolved to become one of the highlights on the world’s equestrian calendar with participation of top-ranking international and local riders competing in the disciplines of showjumping, dressage, and para dressage.

 

By organizing and hosting the three-day event, Al Shaqab supports Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to promote Qatar as a world-class sports destination, while paying tribute to the country’s rich equestrian heritage.

Besides ensuring an action-packed sporting competition, CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines will also feature a festival area offering a range of educational and entertainment activities suitable for the entire family.

CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by LONGINES is testament to Al Shaqab’s standing as a center of global equestrian excellence and a premier international competition venue, while the festival atmosphere during the event will provide a memorable experience for one and all.
