    ABOUT BREEDING

    His Highness The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani established Al Shaqab in 1992 to enjoy his passion for Arabian horses, to honor the courageous war horses ridden by victorious Qatari knights of the past, and to assure the Arabian horse would continue to play a leading role in the cultural heritage of the Qatari people.

UIPM Champion of Champions – Modern Pentathlon

The name derives from the Greek penta- "five" and -athlon "contest“ and was originally designed as a soldier’s event

The format has changed over time. The format of this event consists of fencing (epee), swimming (200m free style), riding (show jumping on a 350-450m course with 12 obstacles), shooting (laser pistol 10m standing), & running (3km race).

The competition, organized in cooperation with the Qatar Olympic Committee, will take place at QF Recreation Centre and AL SHAQAB Outdoor Arena on 12 & 13 November 2016 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. It will feature 36 athletes (18 men and 18 women) from 15 countries.
