AL SHAQAB draws huge crowd at 7th Annual Horse Auction

DOHA: A huge crowd turned out for the AL SHAQAB's 7th Annual Horse Auction over the weekend.
According to details released by the organizers, a total of 32 horse pedigrees of the fabled Arabian horses - who have bagged numerous international awards - were paraded at the AL SHAQAB Arena.
The hugely popular program kicked off 3:30pm.
This year's auction was different from the previous editions as gate receipts and proceeds from the auction were donated to ROTA - the Reach Out To Asia initiative.
Faisal Al Rahmani, one of the best horse auction organizers in the Arab world, conducted the auction of Al Shaqab’s horses.
The auction witnessed 32 of the most beautiful horses that have won numerous international accolades and awards at regional competitions before.
The price of one of the horses reached QR 250,000.
The organizers said the bidding process went smoothly with the audience showing interest on buying the displayed horses due to its huge value.
The famous entries that were parade at the auction includes: Gazal Al Shaqab, Musheera Al Shaqab, Salfa Al Shaqab, Malek Al Shaqab, Shouq Al Shaqab, Tagreed Al Shaqab, Jabran AL Shaqab, Kanan AL Shaqab, Woroud Al Shaqab, Zaheyat AL Shaqab, Azeza Al Shaqab, Dalela Al Shaqab and many other amazing horses that caught the sight of the audience.
Organizers said Al Shaqab is keen to hold auctions regularly in order to provide fans the chance to buy the top pedigree horses.
His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, founded AL SHAQAB in 1992 to preserve and further develop the Arabian horse in Qatar. Al Shaqab’s vision is to build on Qatar’s heritage with the Arabian horse to be a leading global center for equine professionals and provide an engaging experience for the community.
