    His Highness The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani established Al Shaqab in 1992 to enjoy his passion for Arabian horses, to honor the courageous war horses ridden by victorious Qatari knights of the past, and to assure the Arabian horse would continue to play a leading role in the cultural heritage of the Qatari people.

AL SHAQAB will be hosting our 6th Annual Horse Auction on Wednesday, 9 March 2016.

106 horses that are pedigrees of the most famous Arabian horses which won awards in numerous international and regional competitions will be presented in the auction which starts at 2 PM.
The horses being put up for auction are available for viewing and inspection on 7 & 8 March 2016, from 8 AM to 11 AM and from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Breeding and Show Department at Al Shaqab. Entry to the premises is via Gate 9.

His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, founded AL SHAQAB in 1992 to preserve and further develop the Arabian horse in Qatar. AL SHAQAB is led by H E Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and encompasses an Endurance Team, a Breeding & Show division, and a Riding Academy.

In 2004, AL SHAQAB proudly became a member of Qatar Foundation. AL SHAQAB’s mission is to be global leaders in preserving, improving and promoting the Arabian horse breed through setting the highest standard in breeding, show, equestrian arts and equine welfare while encouraging community participation.
