Archaeological and historical facts provide evidence of the superiority of the Arabian horse breed that originated in the Arabian Peninsula thousands of years ago. Throughout history, these horses have spread around the world, and Arabian bloodlines are found in almost every modern breed of riding horse.
The desert climate has played a major role in shaping the strong bone structure and distinctive characteristics of the Arabian horse breed. They are classified into different categories depending on their blood set and their nation of origin, both which influence the horse anatomy, its characteristics and capabilities.
Most often, horses originating from the Arabian Peninsula have black, grey and white coat colours.
Several physical features distinguish the Arabian horse from other breeds. Most horses display a unique profile with refined heads, large eyes, large nostrils, and small muzzles - features that have prompted commentators to describe the Arabian horse as the most beautiful in the world. Likewise, Arabian mares, with a slightly smaller head, are among the most sought after female horses.
Among the most revered Arabian horses is Gazal Al Shaqab, who was sired in 1995 from the stunning Egyptian champion Anaza El Farid and Kajora, a U.S. Champion mare.
Gazal Al Shaqab has a long history of local, regional and international accomplishments including the Reserve Champion Stallion at the 2005 US National Arabian Championships, the Reserve Champion Stallion at the 2005 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, the Reserve Champion Stallion at the 2004 Qatar International Arabian Championships, the Champion Stallion at the 2001 World Arabian Horse Championships, Champion Senior Stallion at the 1999 Middle East International Championships, and Champion Colt at the 1997 US Egyptian Event.
Marwan Al Shaqab, another notable champion, is the son of Gazal Al Shaqab. Marwan was born in Doha, and belongs to AL SHAQAB. He has won an array of prestigious titles including Leading Sire at the 2012 Mediterranean and Arab Countries Championships and the Qatar International Arabian Horse Championships; Leading Sire at the 2011 World Arabian Horse Championships and the Mediterranean & Arab Countries Championships; Leading Sire at the 2010 World Arabian Horse Championships and the Qatar National Championships; Leading Sire at the 2009 World Arabian Horse Championships; Champion Stallion at the 2009 Qatar International Arabian Championships and Leading Sire at the 2009 Qatar International Arabian Championships; Leading Sire at the 2008 World Arabian Horse Championships and Champion Colt at the 2002 World Arabian Horse Championships.
There is a third Arabian Champion - Al Adeed Al Shaqab. These 3 horses are represented in Al Shaqab’s logo.
