Al Shaqab Endurance Team will be in Messaied Endurance Village this Saturday, 11th November, to compete in the QatarEndurance Cup – QEC with distances between 100 Km (CEI1*), 80 Km (CEI1*) and 40 Km.
The team has entered 21 horses for the competition.
As temperature remains usually high for this time of the year, the start for the FEI competitions are scheduled for 3 am while the national competition will start at 3:30 am.

Trainers, riders and horses are ready to start the season for international races as well as prepare the team for the Word Equestrian Games (WEG) next year.

For the next 10 months, each race will have specific technical features relating to the team’s preparation, especially horses for the WEG. Certainly, the races have an important role in the foundation of the horses and riders in order for them to develop and compete successfully. Head of Endurance, Jassim Al Madhadi stated “participating in competitions is good for the team, even if it is not a qualifying race, as it allows us to evaluate our riders and horses, train horses during races and evaluate speeds of each combination. Horses are like athletes. They need care, training and have limitations. Such training and preparations take time and it is important to ensure that we do not squander the hard work that an endurance horse demand”.

The 2017/18 season promises to be an interesting challenge for the AL SHAQAB team as they prepare for the WEG in September 2018. Held once every four years, the 12-day WEG features eight equestrian disciplines with the world’s best riders competing for glory.
Following their success at the World Championship for Juniors in Verona, Italy last September, where the team won a bronze medal representing the State of Qatar, the AL SHAQAB team is looking forward to one of the most important event on the equestrian calendar next year.

The Qatar Endurance Cup – QEC is organized by The Endurance Committee of the Qatar Equestrian & Modern Pentathlon Federation. The next endurance competition will be the National Day Cup, 120 Km CEI2* to be held on 9 December 2017.
