    His Highness The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani established Al Shaqab in 1992 to enjoy his passion for Arabian horses, to honor the courageous war horses ridden by victorious Qatari knights of the past, and to assure the Arabian horse would continue to play a leading role in the cultural heritage of the Qatari people.

Al Shaqab Triumphs at National Day Cup Endurance Competition

The Al Shaqab team stamped its authority in the CEI2* 120 Km National Day Cup competition over the weekend at Messaied by taking the 3 positions on the podium. With 14 riders out of 57 who participated in the competition, the Al Shaqab team proved too much for the rest of the field as it captured 7 of the top 10 placings. 

Jassim Al Madhadi, Head of Al Shaqab’s Endurance led the field in combination with Djitane De Leyre. Hassan Tahous took the 2nd place riding Doria de Jansavis and Sultan Al Shamousi with Kinaye De Sinuhe finished 3rd. Commenting on the team’s success, Jassim stated “Once again I am proud of our team; proud of our riders and trainers. I believe in teamwork and the results are showing me that this is the way forward. This winning has triple significance for me - I won as a rider, as Head of Endurance and I won for my country”.

The National Day Cup was organized by the Endurance Committee of the Qatar Equestrian & Modern Pentathlon Federation. The team will be participating in a national competition at the end of the month.
