    ABOUT BREEDING

    His Highness The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani established Al Shaqab in 1992 to enjoy his passion for Arabian horses, to honor the courageous war horses ridden by victorious Qatari knights of the past, and to assure the Arabian horse would continue to play a leading role in the cultural heritage of the Qatari people.

To establish a premier showjumping league that provides a stage for riders of all backgrounds, with an emphasis on promoting opportunities for females and juniors. We aim to prepare them for the highest level of equestrian sport while instilling confidence and sportsmanship in them to allow them to excel as athletes.

Al Shaqab is proud to announce the eagerly anticipated Al Shaqab League show jumping competition Scheduled to take place from May 10th to 11th, between 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at the prestigious Longines Indoor Arena in Shaqab, this event promises to be a thrilling display of equestrian prowess.

The Al Shaqab League is poised to be a spectacular sporting extravaganza, spotlighting the remarkable skills of riders in the league of show jumping competitions. With an emphasis on establishing a distinguished league that provides a prominent platform for riders of various categories, this championship also aims to offer opportunities for young riders, aspiring female participants, juniors, future champions and all equestrian enthusiasts.

Registration for this esteemed event is open to all Riding Academy members and external riders, fostering inclusivity and promoting the spirit of equestrian sportsmanship.

Al Shaqab League stands as a beacon for international qualification, with its classes dedicated to training riders to attain the highest levels of achievement. Notably, the FEI Group 7 qualifying class held in earlier leagues saw all riders qualified for the FEI Group 7 final. Furthermore, the Al Shaqab League is dedicated to providing riders at Al Shaqab with opportunities to qualify for prestigious events such as the FEI group 7 final, youth Olympic games and FEI international events.

Future Champions – Ages 14 years old and below (Height 90cm)

Junior Champions – Ages 18 years old and below (Height 100cm)

Youth Champions – Ages 21 years old and below (Height 110cm)

Ladies Category - Ladies Amateurs (Height 90cm)

Registration for National Classes

  • Entry is open to all Riding Academy members & external riders.
  • Entry fees are 200QAR per national jumping class. Fees are non-refundable.
  • Registration closes 5 days before the start of the event. An extra 100QAR is charged for late entries.
  • Horses can be ridden twice per class by different riders, and a max of 3 times per event.
  • Registration for Al Shaqab Riding Academy Students must be done through their instructors.
  • Upon registration, riders are required to provide their bank details, personal picture (in official jumping attire) and QID copy.
  • External horse owners must register their horses and provide proof of ownership, horse’s passport and vaccination records.

Registration for International Classes

  • Entry is open to all Riding Academy members & external athletes who meets the requirements.
  • Entry fees are 600QAR per event. Fees are non-refundable.
  • Registration closes 5 days before the start of the event. 100QAR is charged everyday that the entry is late.
  • All athletes and horses should have FEI ID valid number.
  • Upon registration, riders are required to provide their bank details, personal picture (in official jumping attire) and QID copy.
