    His Highness The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani established Al Shaqab in 1992 to enjoy his passion for Arabian horses, to honor the courageous war horses ridden by victorious Qatari knights of the past, and to assure the Arabian horse would continue to play a leading role in the cultural heritage of the Qatari people.

AL SHAQAB TO PARTICIPATE IN QATAR ENDURANCE CUP

AL SHAQAB’s Endurance Team will be participating in the first international competition of the season, Qatar Endurance Cup – QEC at the Sealine Endurance track this weekend. The competition is organized by The Endurance Committee of the Qatar Equestrian & Modern Pentathlon Federation.

Following their success at the World Championship for Juniors in Verona, Italy last September, where the team won a bronze medal representing the State of Qatar, the team returned to Doha to start the 2017/2018 season as well as prepare for the next World Championship in 2018. The AL SHAQAB team will be participating in all classes for the weekend competition with distances of 100 Km (CEI1*), 80 Km (CEI1*) and 40 Km.

The 2017/18 season promises to be an interesting challenge for the team as the riders and horses will use the opportunity to qualify for one of the most important event in the equestrian calendar, the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in September 2018. Held once every four years, the 12-day WEG features eight equestrian disciplines with the world’s best riders competing for glory.

After this weekend, the next endurance competition will be the National Day Cup, a 120 Km CEI2* to be held on 9 December 2017.
