An imposing track with obstacles set at 1m 45 challenged riders in the second CSI 3* class of the day. A number of wide oxers and technical combinations around the course caused faults and there were just three clears.
Qatari rider Salman Mohammed A S Al Emadi delighted the home crowd with a decisive win in the second CSI 3* of the day at CHI AL SHAQAB. Riding his consistent gelding Zorro Z, he jumped one of the few clears in a lightening quick time of 67.10 seconds, nearly four seconds ahead of Ramzy Hamad Al Duhami in second place with 70.89.
Speaking after his round Al Emadi explained how he first got into show jumping. “I have been doing it for a long time and started show jumping because my father was a big supporter of the sport. It is great to see how it has grown in Qatar. I hope to compete in the five star next year.”
His winning horse for this class was Zorro Z, a 16 year old chestnut gelding by Zandor Z and owned by the Qatar Equestrian Federation.
Al Duhami jumped the first clear of the day on High Quality but had to settle for another runner-up spot. The Saudi rider finished in second place in one of yesterday’s CSI 3* classes and will be hoping to go one better tomorrow.
Finishing some five seconds behind was Frenchman Frédéric David with the Baloubet du Rouet sired stallion Baloussini. The horse is owned by Sheikha Alyazia Bint Sultan Al Nahyan.
