    His Highness The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani established Al Shaqab in 1992 to enjoy his passion for Arabian horses, to honor the courageous war horses ridden by victorious Qatari knights of the past, and to assure the Arabian horse would continue to play a leading role in the cultural heritage of the Qatari people.

IT’S TIME TO TAKE THE REINS AT AL SHAQAB EQUINE EDUCATION

AL SHAQAB, a Member of Qatar Foundation, will host on Saturday, 09 May 2015, from 8am to 7pm the 2nd AL SHAQAB Equine Education Invitational Competition. The event will be held at the Equine Education Facilities.

 “To anyone that ever told you that you’re no good; They’re no better” penned by an anonymous writer - was the catchphrase chosen by Mr. Mohammed Al Suwaidi, the Assistant Manager of Equine Education to encourage the generation of young equestrian riders to take part in the event at AL SHAQAB this weekend.

The competition includes Style Class, Caprilli Tests, Gymkhana Games, Foundation Skills; Horsemanship Club Challenge and Open Ridden Class.

Open for the AL SHAQAB Equestrian School Membership, the competition will have in this edition also the participation of 15 riders from the Qatar Equestrian Federation.

The tournament expects to have participants of different ages and nationalities.

Al Suwaidi said that he is enthusiastic with the atmosphere surrounding the event and the participants. He was quoted saying: “We are encouraging the young generation of horsemen/horsewomen to accept challenges, exchange and improve their experiences, and certainly add value to the equestrian sports”.

Certificates of Participation, rosettes, trophies and flower bouquets are at stake for the winners, thus, motivating the members to aim for the bestwhile instilling in them the spirit of competition and sportsmanship.

The event is part of AL SHAQAB’s vision in its pursuit of excellence and providing an engaging experience for the future world-class horsemen and horsewomen of the Equestrian industry.

H.H. The Emir Father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani founded AL SHAQAB in 1992 to preserve and further develop the Arabian horse in Qatar. AL SHAQAB is led by H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and encompasses an Endurance Team, a Breeding & Show division, and an Equestrian Education Center.

In 2004, AL SHAQAB proudly became a member of Qatar Foundation.
