    ABOUT BREEDING

    His Highness The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani established Al Shaqab in 1992 to enjoy his passion for Arabian horses, to honor the courageous war horses ridden by victorious Qatari knights of the past, and to assure the Arabian horse would continue to play a leading role in the cultural heritage of the Qatari people.

Tournament Director Ali Al Rumaihi yesterday said: “The new season is getting more attention compared to the previous season. We have more entries this time besides adding the Team Competition to our calendar or events.”
 

Promising Qatari rider Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi yesterday emerged a convincing winner with Vivaldi K, grabbing the honours in the Medium Tour battles on day one of the new Hathab show jumping season.

“The opportunity is there for everybody to learn. The second edition, I am sure, will be a great hit. The championships have been very well planned. It is a great initiative launched by H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, the QOC Chairman. The development of young Qatari riders is going on really well,” Eng. Nasser Al Hajri, said.
“This championship has been planned with great detail by QEF and Al Shaqab. You can see the evidence of their involvement at all levels. Qatar equestrian is on the way up” he added.
