Doha: Qatar’s rapid rise to the top tier of global sporting destinations, exemplified by CHI AL SHAQAB 2017, is the fruitful outcome of the private sector’s support for Qatar National Vision 2030.
The National Vision 2030 aspires to propel the country forward through balanced growth in the human and economic sectors, and CHI AL SHAQAB creates a valuable dynamic between stakeholders across many areas, including businesses, tourism and equestrian industries, as well as cultural entities.
A diverse collection of public and private organizations in Qatar teamed up with AL SHAQAB to make CHI AL SHAQAB one of the most prominent EVENT on the international equestrian calendar. Gold sponsor ExxonMobil has been CHI AL SHAQAB’s sponsor for all five years, providing crucial support in organizing and executing the event. Woqod has also joined in support for the first time this year, as CHI AL SHAQAB’s silver sponsor.
This year, Qatar Airways Cargo provided top-of-the-line transportation for more than 100 of the horses competing at CHI AL SHAQAB, including comfortable and spacious horse stalls and seats for grooms on board theaircraft. Aspetar, one of the world’s top sports medicine facilities, provides medical support for riders, and the St. Regis Hotel is the event’s hospitality partner. Purchased tickets will allow entrants to participate in a raffle to win a Mercedes Benz C200, courtesy of Nasser Bin Khaled (NBK) – who is also one of CHI AL SHAQAB’s partners.
These partnerships don’t just support the economic aspect of the event. A key part of CHI AL SHAQAB is the Festival Area, which offers a wide range of cultural activities, including henna painters, falcon handlers and traditional food, all geared at educating visitors about Qatari culture and heritage.
